Vintage Liberty Paris Art Deco Blue Silk Gold Lame Butterfly Floral Shawl Fabric
This antique Art Deco vintage Liberty Paris blue silk gold lame butterfly floral shawl fabric dates from the 1920s. It is made of a bright royal blue color silk with a woven gold metallic thread damask weave lame fabric with a reversible floral butterfly design. This fabulous flapper shawl scarf fabric has a reversible style, with a roundel circle center of butterflies and is missing the fringe trim edging which has been removed leaving a knotted remnant trim edging surrounding it. There is no label, but this pattern is
reminiscent
of the Liberty & Co. which was synonymous with luxury, great design and was one of the first to embrace the Art Nouveau style, Oriental fabrics becoming known for their artistic textiles. The square shawl measures 60 by 60 inches. It is in good condition, with only some slight fraying along the edging in areas and a small tarnish discoloration stain (see close-up). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of Liberty Paris Art Deco wearable art!
