Antique Chinese Canton hand embroidered MANTON DE MANILA Duster, jacket, Piano Shawl.  Made from a black silk background, features embroidered flowers in colored silk thread.   Features hand tied/knotted silk strands.   I have included many photos for you to have a nice look.  Please view the photos as this is part of the description.
This is BEING SOLD IN AS FOUND CONDITION- the base of the jacket is in excellent antique condition, the shoulders and collar are heavily damaged- AS SHOWN-someone with some sewing ability could modify or do a major repair job.
Approx measurements- arm pit to arm pit across the back -21" length-44"  sleeves- 14"
Mantones de Manila (piano shawls) were made in China and brought to the Europe and USA via the galleon trade.
Although not a Chinese tradition, these shawls were made in China to meet European demand.
The trade of these beautiful silk shawls started in the 17th century and reached its peak in the 19th century.
The old piano shawls reminiscent of the galleon trade are treasured in wealthy European and American homes, and are passed on as heirlooms to the next generation.
