    EL CAZADOR was a Spanish Brig of War sent to New Orleans to rescue the floundering economy of The Spanish-Controlled Colonies. Loaded down, mostly with newly-minted Silver 8 Reales Coins from Mexico City, it never reached its destination and New Orleans eventually came under France's Control.
    In 1993, near the mouth of The Mississippi River, a fishing trawler, Known as "The Mistake", began pulling up numerous Silver Coins in its nets. By the time licensed Salvage Crews finished, over 400,000 Mexican 8 Reales were brought up, along with another 50,000 smaller denominations.
    ALSO OF HISTORIC IMPORTANCE....
    Even decades after the newly-formed United States of America purchased the Louisiana Territory from the French, coins like this were presented and accepted as U.S. DOLLARS until the late 1850's.
    THIS IS A GREAT HISTORIC KEEPSAKE!
