1930’s Egyptian Assuit scarf shawl

Description

1920’s / 1930’s era Egyptian Assuit ecru scarf/shawl with heavy metal pieces weaved in. It is made of an off white ecru cream color sheer cotton netting which is covered with hand applied metal pieces done in a decorative Art Deco look.
There is 5 small holes. Please see photos. Overall in excellent condition for a  piece that has been worn and will be soon 100 years old.  (
These shawls/ scarf are also known as Tulle-bi-telli, Assuit, Tulle-bi-telli translates roughly as “net with metal”. These shawls /scarf were made popular in the 1920’s 1930’s in the Egyptian Revival period…this beautiful belly dancing flapper style shawl/scarf wrap measures 98 inches long and 20 inched wide and is quite heavy. The black dress behind the scarf/shawl and the mannequin are not included, only item offered is the shawl/scarf
