    Description

1865 letter signed by Robert Patterson  (1792-1881), a civil war major general assigned much of the blame for the union failure at 1st bull run.  Patterson was a major general in the Mexican war and at the outset of the civil war, but was mustered out of the army in 1861 after failures to contain Confederate forces in the field leading up to first bull run.  Letter relates to business matters and is mounted at left to album page.
