Mexico 1756 2 Reale Silver Milled Pillar Colonial Period Ferdinand VI Silver CoinOld attempt to hole the coin but was not successful, can't date the damage.
This 1756 2 reales is one of a series struck 1747-57 during the reign of Ferdinand VI. Milled bust coins
were minted at the Mexico City mint from 1772 until 1821, when Mexico won its independence from Spain.
Like the milled pillar dollar, reales circulated throughout the new worlds, even serving as legal currency
in the United States until 1857. Nearly all colonial pillar coins were heavily used that most of them are in really low grades.
This coin shows very near excellent fine condition grade. Nice circulated example of the type!!
These colonial period coins circulated freely in the many New World colonies of Spain and
many were lost in shipwrecks.
